Our Mission

The mission of the NC State Parks Partners Foundation is to enable people to make meaningful and lasting gifts to support North Carolina’s State Parks.

Many people enjoy our state parks system, appreciate the importance of park lands to the preservation of North Carolina’s natural heritage, and want to help ensure that the parks continue to serve the people of North Carolina for many generations to come.

The purpose of the North Carolina State Park Partners Foundation is to receive gifts, donations and bequests from people who love the parks, and to ensure that these funds are used to benefit the state parks system and its visitors.

Gifts received subject to specific requests will be used in accordance with the wishes of the donors, and with the approval of the NC Division of Parks and Recreation.

Unrestricted gifts will be awarded as grants to the NC Division of Parks and Recreation, or to any tax-exempt organization described in Section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Projects eligible for grants will meet one or more of the following objectives within the state parks system:

  • Acquire land

  • Build or improve park facilities

  • Improve park accessibility for the young, impaired and elderly

  • Promote increased park use by minority populations

  • Support interpretive and environmental education activities

  • Support stewardship of natural resources

  • Preserve historic features
